DM Burke A Finalist in 3 Irish Law Awards 2018

Deirdre Burke Takes 3 Finalist Places in Irish Law Awards 2018

I’m delighted to say that I’ve been nominated as a finalist in 3 categories of the Irish Law Awards 2018.  Final winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony in Dublin on Friday 11th May.

The 3 categories I’m shortlisted for are:

  •  the Leinster Family Law Firm/Lawyer of the Year;
  • the Leinster Sole Practitioner/Sole Principal of the Year Award; and
  • the Leinster Law Firm of the Year.

It means a lot to receive this kind of recognition from my peers. And it is especially important to me that I’ve been selected as a finalist for family law – to which I have dedicated so many years. I’m grateful that I still have the same level of passion and enthusiasm for this work today.  I think this is largely because I see the constant hard legal work and lobbying for families and children is paying off in some small way.  Being shortlisted will hopefully add a bit of extra volume to my voice in the future!

Founded in 2012, these awards aim to identify, honour, and publicise outstanding achievements. They also seek to recognise those who have dedicated their lives to serving in the legal profession. Thirdly, they are designed to recognise excellence in the legal profession of Ireland, commending the achievements of lawyers.  Similar events have been hosted across Europe for many years, and this prestigious ceremony allows Irish legal professionals to be recognised alongside their international peers.

The judging panel for the Irish Law Awards 2018 – who select the shortlisted finalists-   is made up mainly of members of the profession, and those who work with the legal profession.  The panel is chaired by notary public and solicitor, Dr. Eamonn G. Hall.  New judges this year are solicitor and management consultant, Anna Neary and barrister and writer, Henry Murdoch.  For the full list of judging panel members, click here

The charity partners for the Irish Law Awards 2018 are The Solicitors Benevolent Association and The Benevolent Society of the Bar of Ireland.

The Awards will take place on Friday May 11th with a black-tie gala evening ceremony at the Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road, Dublin.
